Lack of lactation with Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine

This condition can be assisted most effectively with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. The goal of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine is to nourish the mother’s body and regenerate the mother’s blood and body fluids. The analogy behind it is like a water reservoir, if there is insufficient water in the reservoir (ie. body), obviously the fluid will not flow. Therefore, by nourishing and regenerate body fluids and blood through acupuncture and herbal medicine, only the new mother can produce sufficient breast milk. (Source: Click Here)

There is an abundant milk supply and the breasts are swollen and causing discomfort, as a result, the mother unable to empty the supply of milk in their breasts. This can result in blockage or mastitis in some cases. In acupuncture, we usually have an analogy of water flowing through a hose, but we need to limit or stop the flow of fluid so that there is the normal flow of water in returns.

2. Lack of lactation due to insufficient milk production
