IVF Acupuncture Treatment

WHY USE ACUPUNCTURE SUPPORT IVF TREATMENT?

Using in vitro fertilisation (IVF) alone, women have a 1 in 4 chance of falling pregnant. By combining it with Chinese medicine, the chances of conception can increase to between 65 and 85 per cent (Acupuncture Benefits IVF fertility up to 65% – British Medical Journal 2008). Each treatment at our Melbourne clinic is designed to work in conjunction with your current IVF treatment cycle.

Unfortunately, Western medicine fertility treatment clinics very often recommend to couples that they immediately begin IVF fertility treatment, despite the positive early research that exists that Acupuncture adjunctive treatment has a positive effect on assisted fertility success rates. It is therefore up to the individual couple to source out other support options to their fertility care.

IVF Acupuncture Treatment

IVF acupuncture treatment is personally focussed to individual patient needs and designed to enhance fertility and improve well-being. These treatments can also be effective in treating the side effects of IVF, such as moodiness, weight gain, bloating, anxiety, headaches, hot flushes, etc. Both Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine treatments are particularly effective during the first cycle, which can be an extremely stressful and uncomfortable experience for women.

“The good news about the Acupuncture use infertility therapy is [that] the benefit is not affected by age, meaning all age groups showed the increase in IVF success rates from the IVF Acupuncture Support therapy,” said Dr Smith (‘Acupuncture Benefits IVF Fertility’, 3rd May 2006, the University of Adelaide: http://www.adelaide.edu.au/news/news11641.html)

Certain acupuncture points have been shown to improve male fertility and improve the chances of the IVF cycle being successful. Research has shown that acupuncture may improve the success rates of assisted conception, donor egg cycle and also sperm quality (viable sperm count)

Improving your diet and the whole lifestyle will greatly contribute to your fertility success. Dr Christine Cui's treatment approaches can also significantly reduce the stress that women (and couples) often feel whilst going through IVF.
