Low AMH

What is AMH ?

AMH is Anti-Mullerian Hormone, it the hormone that produced by Granulosa cells; which surround each and every egg in a woman’s ovary. Therefore, the more eggs the more granulosa cells and obviously the more AMH produced. Hence, it is very important for women who try to conceive to maintain or improve the amount of AMH produced in their body.

Treatment with acupuncture

Women who try to conceive to undertake AMH blood test in order to know the amount of AMH they have in their blood stream. It is necessary for women undertaking IVF treatments to have at least 14pmol/L to achieve successful conception. Apart from having sufficient AMH, women who try to conceive also need to have good quality eggs.

There are two hormones that play relevant roles in women’s body. Both hormones has to be balance in order for women to avoid infertility. These hormones include Luteinzing Hormone (LH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Imbalance in one of these two hormones can result in the following conditions:

  1. Polycyctic ovaries: High in LH (Luteinizing Hormone) production in relation to FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) will result in PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome).
  2. Premenopause: Too high in FSH in relation to LH (Luteinizing Hormone) will result in pre-menopause.

Acupuncture can help women to balance LH and FSH resulting in better egg quality and consequently higher rate of conception.
